State’s Attorney Kim Foxx Announces New Deputy Chief of Staff

CHICAGO – The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO) today announced the appointment of Eric Dropkin as Deputy Chief of Staff, where he will collaborate with managers and supervisors to oversee and implement policies within the office.

Dropkin replaces Ted Berger, who last year accepted the role of executive director of the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS). Dropkin, an experienced leader who has worked at multiple levels of government and in the private sector, most recently served as Assistant Director of Reform at the Chicago Police Department, managing the implementation of the consent decree between the City and the Illinois Office of the Attorney General.

Before his role with the Chicago Police Department, Dropkin spent time in Cook County Budget Office and served as a government consultant at a late-stage fintech start-up and implemented a data project for the Illinois Governor's Office of childhood development. Dropkin holds a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Chicago with a focus in municipal finance.
