Chicago Police Officer Charged for 2020 CTA Red Line Shooting

CHICAGO - The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO) has filed felony charges against Chicago Police Officer Melvina Bogard for an on-duty shooting incident that occurred at the CTA Grand Red Line station on February 28, 2020.  

Officer Bogard, 32, is charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Official Misconduct after a review of the incident was conducted by the CCSAO Law Enforcement Accountability Division.

Bogard surrendered to CCSAO investigators this morning and will appear for a bail hearing today at 12:00 PM in Central Bond Court.  A remote link to view the hearing can be found on the Cook County Chief Judge’s website.
