Cook County Automatic Victim Notification (AVN) is a system that offers victims and witnesses of crime two important resources, information about the custody status of the offender and notification of the release of the offender from county custody as well as upcoming court dates.
You MUST REGISTER to receive notifications from AVN. Notifications are available in three forms:
- Phone notifications are available by calling (toll-free) 1 (877) 846-3445 from any touch-tone telephone and following the prompts to register; operator assistance is available 24 hours a day.
- Text message and email notifications are also available: visit vinelink.com to register for either of these services.
The following information is available through Cook County AVN:
Cook County Jail Inmate Custody Status
In custody means that the offender is behind bars at Cook County Jail.
Circuit Court Case Information
- Date, time, location of next court date
- Number of charges
- If defendant is released from Bond Court
- Mandatory conditions of bond

Victims may access custody information and register for notification using any of the following:
- Defendant’s name
- Defendant’s date of birth if there are multiple defendants with the same name
- IR number
- Cook County Jail identification number
Victims may access court date information and register for notification using any of the following:
- Defendant’s name
- IR number
- Circuit Court Clerk’s 11-digit case number
- Police or incident report number.
