Overview

This overview summarizes Felony Review (initial screening by Assistant State’s Attorneys who decide whether the CCSAO will file felony charges) and Disposition (ultimate result of charges) for defendants in the current year. It also provides a trend for Felony Review and Disposition results since 2011.

Felony Review, Charging, and Conviction

Felony Review, Charging, and Conviction are intended to be viewed together as each one describes a step in prosecuting a case. Felony Review displays the changing proportion of felony review outcomes year over year. Charging displays the specific sex offender charges filed by the CCSAO, and Conviction displays the result for the charges.

From Charging to Conviction

Charging to Conviction consists of two tree maps. The first tree map shows if the defendant was convicted on the initial charge or a lesser (higher) charge. The second tree map shows whether the defendant was convicted on the same class as the case initiated or on a different class.

A breakdown of case outcomes by race of defendant and victim.

Victim Statistics
