Testimonials from previous participants
The CCSAO Citizens Academy, Youth Edition partnered with TA98, a local social services non-profit dedicated to tackling unemployment among 18-24-year-olds. Founded by David Rojas, Jr. in 2018, TA98 has successfully assisted over 500 young adults from Chicago’s South and West sides, connecting them with valuable workforce resources and opportunities. During the program, ASAs and the CCSAO community engagement team engaged with the TA98 group in weekly one-on-one discussions, providing valuable insights into prosecution and the inner workings of the Cook County Justice System.
David Rojas, Jr., shared some memorable moments from the experience:
- "Our young participants were truly inspired by seeing themselves in the ASAs they interacted with. Hearing their journeys and finding relatability with attorneys who came from similar backgrounds as them left a lasting impact."
- "The breakdown and explanation of topics related to Cyber Security and accountability were eye-opening and thought-provoking."
- "Participating in the mock trial was an empowering and educational experience for our young adults."
The Citizens Academy, Youth Edition, continues to create positive change and foster meaningful connections between the youth and the justice system in Cook County.
